Event tents and festival tents: which tent is suitable for my celebration?
Event tents create the perfect space for every event. Thanks to tailor-made solutions, event tents can also be optimally adapted to individual requirements: from fixed standard solutions to complex, multi-storey luxury event tents. This makes event tents indispensable for the events sector.
We provide expertise on what event tents are used for and how to recognise high-quality event tents.
What is an event tent?
With an event tent, often also referred to as a temporary event tent, you can create precisely the spatial conditions you need for an event. An event tent is a professional tent system that can be installed as a so-called temporary building exactly where it is required. In addition, it can be tailored to customer requirements. An event tent is therefore the optimal and professional space solution for every commercial and private event.
What are event tents used for?
Whether indoor or outdoor event, event tents provide the perfect spatial solution for every occasion. There are no limits to their use – as a roof for a large beer festival, for an outdoor wedding, as a promotional tent, as stage covering at a music festival, as a football hall or as a covered solution for catering and technical equipment. There are countless reasons for using event tents.
Professional event tents are manufactured to such a high standard and designed so luxuriously that they are in no way inferior to permanent buildings in terms of comfort and a sense of wellbeing, and quickly become a stunning eye-catcher. This is due to the many different designs, because not every event tent is the same: with pagoda tents, you can turn any event into something truly special. The small, square tents with their distinctive pointed roof create a magical and romantic atmosphere. Party tents and large tents provide the perfect space solution for both small and large events. For a modern look, event tents with flat roofs and glass panels are ideal. And those looking for tailor-made solutions can have custom-built structures manufactured according to customer requirements.

Concerts and festivals
Large open-air concerts or multi-day festivals cannot do without an event tent. They serve not only as party tents for visitors, but also as stage coverings. At cultural and music events of all kinds, technical equipment is also a key focus. Event tents provide the optimal spatial solution for this as well. And to ensure catering runs smoothly, there are dedicated kitchen tents with the necessary equipment.
Outdoor-Events
Celebrating in the middle of nature without having to forgo any comfort – event tents make this possible. They have therefore become a popular alternative to traditional wedding venues and party rooms. The many different shapes, sizes and equipment options create an unforgettable impression. At an outdoor wedding, a dance floor can easily be included in the planning. Glass walls and glass panels provide openness and a wonderful atmosphere. However, it does not always have to be an outdoor wedding; with an event tent, any outdoor event can be realised: gala dinners, corporate events, art exhibitions, christenings and many, many more.
Trade fairs
Trade fair season is event tent season! With event tents, a trade fair site can be set up at any location and in exactly the desired size. They provide space for information and sales stands and create rooms for lectures, presentations and training sessions. Event tents can therefore be individually adapted to customer requirements.
Sport events
Thanks to variable adjustment in width, height and length, sports halls can be used for any type of sport. A covered swimming pool or riding arena, as well as a football hall or grandstand, can be created with an event tent.

What is the difference between cheap and expensive event tents?
Event tents are available in different qualities. This often results in large price ranges that are not immediately understandable at first glance. We provide expertise on the criteria by which the quality of event tents can be assessed:
Criterion 1: The material
The material used is one of the most important criteria determining the quality of event tents. This applies not only to the material of the tarpaulins, but also to that of the frame structure. The frame should be made of galvanised steel or aluminium to ensure that rust has no chance to develop. For the tarpaulins, event tent providers typically use either PVC (polyvinyl chloride) or PE (polyethylene). PVC is characterised by its high robustness and durability. Another advantage compared to PE is its fire resistance and superior weather protection. PE, on the other hand, is lighter than PVC, making it easier to transport and assemble.
International standards, national regulations and certifications for event tents also help to assess safety and quality more precisely. Many countries have specific standards governing the fire behaviour of materials to ensure a high level of safety in event tents. In German-speaking countries, the so-called “DIN 4102 B1” is a fire protection standard for building materials and construction products. The designation “B1” refers to the fire classification and stands for “hardly flammable” materials. This standard therefore underlines the fire resistance of the tarpaulins. In the UK, the specifications “BS 5438” and “BS 7837” provide information on the flammability of textiles.
Criterion 2: Weather resistance
The location of the event provides information about the requirements for the weather resistance of the event tent. Coastal areas and mountainous regions are often exposed to high wind speeds. Likewise, an event tent must provide effective protection against sunlight. All of this must be taken into account when selecting the optimal event tent.
High-quality event tents offer effective protection against all weather conditions. Neither heavy rain nor high wind speeds can harm high-quality event tents. A high-quality event tent is therefore not only windproof and waterproof, but also offers a high level of UV protection. The event experience remains unchanged with high-quality event tents, regardless of the weather conditions.
Criterion 3: Practicality
Providers of professional event tents also do not overlook assembly. After all, the event tent should be able to be set up as quickly as possible and by as few people as possible. Small event tents can be set up by one or two people. The more complex the structure, the more time and people are required for assembly. However, professional event tent providers also offer exactly the right solution for every need: from fixed event tents, to easy-to-assemble systems, to complex multi-storey constructions.
Quality differences in event tents: what really matters
If one is aware of the decisive quality criteria for event tents, this makes the search for high-quality and reliable providers easier. The material of the frame and the tarpaulins should be examined very carefully. Only high-quality materials allow use in all weather conditions. An additional quality feature is compliance with international standards and norms. This makes it easy to see at a glance and compare the quality in which the tents are manufactured. Another quality difference in event tents lies in the assembly: how quickly and easily can it be erected? The most attractive and affordable event tent will not be convincing if it does not also perform well in terms of assembly.
HTS TENTIQ designs and manufactures all event and exhibition tents in Germany. When it comes to the materials used, HTS TENTIQ focuses on high quality, robustness and durability. For the tarpaulins, only moisture-repellent, fungicidal and flame-retardant PVC is used, which complies with international standards such as DIN 4102 B1, BS 5438 / 7837. This has the advantage that the event tents can be used all year round and are highly robust, resistant and tear-proof.
For the frame of event and exhibition tents, HTS TENTIQ uses high-quality, anodised aluminium and corrosion-resistant hot-dip galvanised steel. This combination offers the following advantage: it enables easy assembly while ensuring the necessary stability to meet all structural safety standards. An in-house design and engineering department as well as state-of-the-art production facilities ensure that the event tents are perfectly suited to each specific site of use, weather-resistant and easy to assemble.

How large does an event building need to be?
The required size of an event building can be calculated quite easily. The space requirement depends on the maximum expected number of people and the desired seating arrangement. We provide you with an overview for determining the optimal size of exhibition buildings:
- Standing tables without seating: approx. 0.7 m² – 0.8 m² per person
- Row seating with theatre chairs or beer benches: approx. 0.8 m² – 1.0 m² per person
- Seating with rectangular tables: approx. 1.5 m² – 2.0 m² per person
- Seating with round tables: approx. 2.0 m² – 2.5 m² per person
