Loading Bay Extensions and Distribution Centres

Loading or storing goods uncovered can not only damage your own and your customer’s stock but damage profits and reputation. Known as a logistics hub, a new well-planned distribution centre can provide improved storage space and optimised internal transportation routes for protected loading. Alternatively, loading bay canopies can be linked to existing warehouse buildings. This enables the integration of a larger covered area with large vehicle access within existing facilities.

Designed and managed correctly, a distribution centre allows the smooth storage, commissioning, inventory control and loading activities of products in high volumes. All carried out rapidly and effectively. This is why cost-efficiency and functionality is our focus when planning your logistics extension or distribution centre.

Adapt our industrial buildings to your logistical requirements

The choice of structures includes canopies, non-insulated or insulated temporary buildings to suit your loading area requirement. It is possible to connect your new loading bay or distribution centre to already existing buildings. In the future, extending further with additional office or storage space is easy to do, allowing your company to grow. Additionally, HTS TENTIQ will help you find the ideal operational workflow to optimise your site.

Depending on what type of modern logistics or distribution centre you are looking for, your requirement may differ. From the distribution of vehicle components, packages or mailing services to the supply of food and pharmaceuticals, there are many possible applications:

Plan the optimal distribution centre or loading hub with HTS TENTIQ

Modern distribution centres must meet high logistics industry standards to ensure smooth operating processes and safety requirements. As a leading manufacturer of temporary buildings, we have delivered many client buildings for logistical applications.

Whether it is a large logistics hub, a loading bay canopy, an extension to an existing warehouse or anything in-between, our experts work with your team to create a space that perfectly suits your business.

When planning a structure for logistic applications, we pay special attention to creating as much storage space as possible. Through increased eaves heights and clear span spaces, ‘goods in’ and ‘holding’ areas can be maximised, as well as freeing up space for efficient forklift movements. No matter the size of the facility or canopy, the following aspects are of vital importance when planning any distribution building:

  • High eaves heights for taller racking
  • Wide span widths without support posts
  • Maximum storage volume
  • Essential fire protection measures
  • Access points for vehicles, pedestrians and forklifts
  • Width and height of door openings
  • Loading technique and its impact on design
  • Lighting requirement for extended operational hours

Advantages of temporary loading and distribution buildings

Robust and adaptable structures

Robust and high-quality aluminium temporary structures ensure short delivery times, quick assembly and flexible addition and extension of your storage space. They are both highly weather-resistant and durable, resulting in long-term cost savings for your business.

Sustainable warehouse construction

Depending on their equipment, temporary storage buildings can be dismantled and rebuilt repeatedly in different locations without considerable loss of quality. They are built to last for various decades and at the end of their lifespan, most raw materials are recycled.

Build high-quality temporary buildings with HTS TENTIQ

As a leader in manufacturing and distributing of temporary buildings, it is our mission to create the ideal space solution for all our customers’ needs. When working with us, you benefit from many years of experience and maximum product quality.

Equipment and accessories for recycling and waste warehouse buildings

A temporary warehouse for recycling or waste storage needs to perfectly protect your stored goods. Temporary or semi-permanent storage buildings offer ideal conditions for recycling processes with “squeezer machines” and other large machinery. They are a quick and cost-effective solution that can be built directly above stationary equipment systems, on pre-existing, levelled concrete flooring.

Usually, corrugated steel is used for the side walls of non-insulated recycling warehouses, but PVC walls are also possible. For our insulated temporary buildings, the side walls are made of insulated sandwich panels. Alternatively, some sites do not need to be covered on all sides: canopies are a popular choice for the storage of processed waste, as it stays dry and does not lose value. In this case, the side walls are left open.

Our wide range of equipment ensure efficient work processes. The planning of the doors is also adapted to your operations. From simple sliding doors to electrical roller shutters or sectional doors optimise the recycling process. To sort and separate the different materials, special divider walls can be added internally.

Installing distribution centres or loading bays

Due to their modular design system, the installation of our distribution centres and loading bay canopies are rapid, efficient and safe. Components are prefabricated at our production facility in Germany, imported and brought on-site in preparation for the build, alongside the required installation equipment. For most modular installations, a telescopic forklift may be enough to assemble the structure. However, larger spans and eave heights may require the use of a mobile crane. This will be arranged beforehand, as part of the installation package with the Project Manager to ensure a smooth delivery.

You will be able to use your new fulfilment centre or distribution centre within a short amount of time. In case it is not needed any longer, your industrial canopy or distribution centre can be removed just as easily as it was set up.

To purchase or rent: options to meet your distribution needs

Whether you are looking to buy or rent your new loading bay or distribution centre, various factors need to be considered. The financial aspect, time frame and building function are the biggest influences on if buying or renting the industrial structure is best for the business. Our experts are here to help you find the right solution.

The advantages of purchasing a loading bay or distribution centre:

  • Cost-effective way of expanding existing structures

FAQs

A fulfilment centre is a building that ensures fast and effective storage, handling and distribution of goods. The right doors and access points create short transportation routes.

A loading bay is an open-sided canopy structure that protects goods being transferred from a warehouse into waiting trucks and vehicles for onward distribution. Usually without walls, loading bays provide basic rain protection.

Typical examples of industrial tents are storage areas, production buildings and workshops, but they are also functional and suitable for a huge variety of alternate applications.

Our case studies give you interesting examples of previously delivered HTS TENTIQ distribution centres for a range of clients.

A warehouse mainly focuses on storing products and goods. However, a distribution centre goes beyond that and takes into account the handling and distribution process of the stored products and goods.

Usually, planning permissions are required for most buildings that are set up for more than just a few days. Depending on the region, regulations may vary. HTS TENTIQ recommend getting in touch with the local competent authority for confirmation during the initial stage.

Modular loading bays and distribution centres are assembled using a flexible and modular construction system. This translates to a fast construction process when compared to traditional building construction. Temporary buildings with a size of up to 1,000m² can usually be set up in as little as one week.

Depending on the requirements and location, a fulfilment centre may not need a foundation system. If a foundation must be installed, the assembly time will increase depending on the commissioned construction company’s timescale.
