Temporary Building for Weatherproof HGV Logistics Centre

Requirements

In the logistics sector, efficiency, flexibility and independence from the weather are decisive factors for smooth operations. Sophisticated building solutions play a key role, especially when reversing and organising lorry trailers.

A transshipment company came to HTS TENTIQ with an enquiry following a personal recommendation from another one of our clients. The logistics company wanted a solution for a weather-protected handling area that is highly functional, quick and cost-effective so that trailers can park and unload the stock regardless of the weather. The goods involved are sensitive in nature so the hall needs to be protected against condensation as well as from the rain.

To optimise use, the building needed to be equipped with as many loading door entrances as possible along one long side. This would allow several lorries to park, load and pick up multiple trailers for onward transport simultaneously.

The customer approached HTS TENTIQ with this task and asked for an urgent solution within the shortest possible time.

Solution

HTS TENTIQ delivered and built a non-insulated temporary building; 25 metres wide, 40 metre length and a side height of 5.20 metres within six weeks. A roller shutter door was installed in each bay on one long side, creating a total of eight doors and thus eight entrances for lorries. Assembly took place within a few days on an area that had already been paved. To keep costs to a minimum, the temporary hall was completely fitted with tarpaulins. In the roof area, an anti-condensation layer was fitted to prevent water from damaging the stock beneath.

The roof covers also had the advantage that they were chosen to be translucent and therefore permeable to daylight. The translucent roof meant that the 300 LUX lighting could be dispensed with during the day – a significant contribution to energy and cost savings.

Benefits

The solution from HTS TENTIQ met all of the customer’s requirements: speed, cost-effectiveness and operational functionality. From now on, the client can store trailers and goods regardless of the weather and transport them flexibly. This ensures better planning and leads to noticeable time and cost savings in their logistical processing.
