Multiple Prefabricated Workshop Buildings for Plant Hire Co.

Following a recent acquisition, a national Plant Hire company approached HTS TENTIQ to design and install multiple prefabricated workshop buildings to incorporate their new heavy machinery rental division. Facilitating the closure of the newly acquired business’s locations, the client needed to merge the additional operational activity onto their existing sites, and quickly.

Phase one focused on the client’s site in Lincolnshire with their Devon depot following closely behind.

After considering traditionally-constructed permanent buildings, alternative solutions were explored by the client for a faster, more cost-effective solution to their required volume of buildings. Aluminium-framed industrial buildings, often referred to as temporary buildings, offer the benefits of quick installations with long-term applications.

Temporary buildings have an incredibly fast installation method, with many built in less than a week. This is due to the modular design and ability to anchor to existing concrete surfaces without the need for foundations. This stye of building is not only time-efficient, but also financially-efficient due to the reduced labour, equipment, architectural and engineering requirement. Additionally, most businesses can continue to work at full operational capacity during installation.

Despite the amazingly fast and simple installation, prefabricated temporary buildings from HTS TENTIQ offer a strong and durable solution for long term applications. Every structure is custom manufactured for each site and project. This ensures a minimum guaranteed life-span of 10 years – however – many of our existing temporary buildings have been operational for over 20 years!

HTS TENTIQ won the contract due to our in-house design and manufacturing capability as well as our fully engineered solution that meets their site-specific structural stability requirement – in terms of snow loads and wind speeds. The prefabricated workshop building for Immingham, Lincolnshire, was designed, manufactured and supplied to the following specification:

• 15.00m wide x 30.00m long x 5.20m eave height
• Thermo insulated roof with composite wall panelling
• 2x personnel doors and 3x roller shutter doors
• External gutter system and downpipes
• Built onto existing concrete surface
• Site-specific structural calculations supplied
• Build time – 5 days

The fast turnaround and installation of the first temporary building, coupled with the functionality and durability of the new operational workshop was greatly appreciated by the client.
