Requirements

The customer, a public swimming pool organisation based in Berlin, wanted to refurbish one of its existing indoor swimming pools. Unfortunately, due to various supply chain bottlenecks, it was not possible to reconstruct the existing pool within a short timeframe. Therefore, they decided to opt for a temporary swimming pool while the renovation works were being carried out. For some time, they had been searching for an interim solution, as all swimming pools in the surrounding area are to be refurbished one after another. Once the entire refurbishment programme has been completed, it is planned that the interim swimming pool will be dismantled again.

However, a solution had to be found here to prevent corrosion of the scaffolding and other structural components due to the chlorinated water.

HTS TENTIQ took part in the organisation’s formal tendering procedure and submitted a proposal for the supply of a temporary indoor swimming building.

Solution

HTS TENTIQ developed and supplied a temporary swimming building construction derived from its range of bespoke industrial and commercial buildings. The 17.00 m wide and 33.00 m long insulated temporary building, with an eaves height of 4.20 m, features roof and wall cladding made of sandwich panels. As is standard for industrial temporary structures, it was designed in accordance with site-specific structural calculations, in this case taking into account a snow load of 68 kg/m² and a wind speed of 100 km/h.

To prevent corrosion of internal scaffolding and steel components, all profile parts were powder-coated and all screws were made of stainless steel. Apart from the fact that an attractive building has been created here, the entire interior area is given an aesthetic appearance. The HTS TENTIQ team also installed changing rooms and shower facilities.

Benefits

The swimming pool organisation was delighted with HTS TENTIQ’s swift solution, after having searched for a suitable option for a long time.

The temporary swimming pool is now accessible to schools, clubs, and the general public. Fortunately, the organisation is thereby continuing to provide an important service to the local population, and the temporary pool is also generating ongoing revenue.

The client is so satisfied with the final result that they intend to use the temporary indoor swimming building for longer than originally planned. In fact, they are now planning to construct additional buildings over the next few years in order to replace older buildings.
