From the Gösser marquee to the Kaiser marquee: marquee solutions for the Vienna Wiesn
The Vienna Kaiser Wiesn is one of Austria’s largest and most traditional events and forms the centrepiece of the Oktoberfest in Vienna. Thousands of visitors and a tight schedule placed high demands on the implementation of the Vienna Wiesn marquees.
For this major event, as an experienced manufacturer of temporary buildings and marquees, we were able to deliver a total of three individually planned marquees: the Gösser marquee at the Vienna Wiesn, the Wiesbauer marquee at the Vienna Wiesn, and the Kaiser marquee at the Vienna Wiesn.
Framework conditions for the Vienna Wiesn marquees
The request was made via direct customer contact through our field sales team. The objective was to implement three high-quality Wiesn marquees capable of handling the high number of visitors and the demanding site conditions.
The framework conditions were clearly defined:
- Delivery and installation of three marquees for the Oktoberfest in Vienna
- Installation on a heavy-duty subfloor provided on site, which was already available from previous projects.
- Complex construction conditions on site, as numerous trees on the site were not allowed to be damaged.
- Custom printing of the covers to ensure a brand-consistent appearance for each individual marquee.
These requirements formed the basis for a customised and technically demanding solution.
The solution: bespoke Wiesn marquees with special constructions
Our solution was based on the use of individually planned Höcker marquees, precisely tailored to the conditions of the Vienna Kaiser Wiesn. Thanks to their modular construction, the marquees could be integrated both functionally and visually into the event site in an optimal way.
A key component of the overall concept was the customised printing of the covers. As standard, Höcker marquees are supplied with white cladding. For the Vienna Kaiser Wiesn, however, the covers were individually printed and matched to the branding of each marquee – Gösser, Wiesbauer and Kaiser. This gave each marquee a distinctive appearance that contributed to the atmosphere of the event.
An additional advantage: the covers can be replaced at any time, whether with printed versions for other events or with neutral white covers for brand-independent use.
Targeted structural adaptations were implemented for the Kaiser marquee at the Vienna Wiesn (30 × 40 m). The last two trusses were shortened and additional recesses were introduced in order to optimally adapt the marquee structure to the existing terrain. In addition, customised solutions were used for floor infill sections, insulated FPIW wall elements, and special connection details, as parts of existing on-site marquees were integrated.
Another key component of the solution was the forward-looking planning of the long-term use of the Vienna Wiesn marquees. From the conceptual phase onwards, it was taken into account that the Vienna Wiesn marquees could be flexibly expanded, reconfigured, or used for other events after the occasion.
Implementation was carried out in close coordination with our customer Eigelsreiter Zeltverleih and the event organisers, ensuring that all measures were delivered precisely and on schedule despite the tight timeline.
The result is a tailor-made marquee solution that combines technical precision, high flexibility and long-term usability, serving as an exemplary reference for complex event projects.
