Festive Temporary Ice Rink Installation at Notable English Castle

Our client, iSkate Ltd won the contract to build and maintain the temporary ice rink at Warwick Castle for their “Christmas at the Castle” seasonal festival. Management at the 1100-year-old, Grade I listed castle were keen to use the temporary ice rink as the perfect centrepiece for their seasonal event. Therefore, providing a showstopping structure was essential. iSkate approached HTS TENTIQ to supply a functional and aesthetic temporary event structure. The structure would sit alongside the open-air ice rink, housing the skate hire, rink-side café and ice maintenance facilities for duration of winter festival.

HTS TENTIQ supplied iSkate Ltd with the perfect solution for the temporary ice rink: the HTS Röder GZ Premium Structure. Not only did the 12.00m x 42.50m x 3.00m premium structure house the rink side facilities, the custom black anodised frames and translucent white PVC roof covers provided many ambient lighting opportunities. Improved hanging loads for internal lighting systems and partition walls were included to separate facilities for staff and skaters.

With a build schedule of less than one week, the modular structure system was installed on the raised floor deck surrounding the ice rink. This provided a seamless accessible platform and allowed plenty of time for festive decorations to be installed ahead of the festival opening.

Located against the dramatic backdrop of Guy’s Tower, built in the 14th century, the modern temporary structure provided the basis for the festive lighting scheme and set dressing, creating the winter wonderland atmosphere for skaters and visitors throughout the season. The addition of the black powder coated frame and matching gutter system allowed the structure to blend in under the cloak of darkness, providing increased functionality and durability without encumbering the project’s overall aesthetic.
