Requirements

A picturesque country house and gardens in Kent, United Kingdom required a covered solution for their current open-air theatre. The historic estate has decided to invest in an all-weather structure to better suit the ever-changing British weather and their packed calendar of summer events. Providing covered seating, stage and backstage spaces that reflect the locations’ beauty and natural atmosphere was of high priority to the client.

Solution

In collaboration with a leading lighting, sound and staging company, HTS TENTIQ designed and installed a Röder HTS Premium Large Marquee featuring a showstopping transparent curved roof, perfect for use in the gardens of the historic country house.

The sloping nature of the site required a custom solution. The structure measured 20.00m x 18.00m with eave heights of between 4.00m-3.00m. This accommodated the staggered theatre seating, as well as the raised stage and high-tech lighting system. The impressive Röder HTS Curved GZ Premium event structure was supplied with roof PVC covers in transparent and green RAL colour to blend in with surrounding gardens.

Installation was coordinated within the tight timescale, with the stage built, acoustic sound proofing system and grandstand seating installed and ready to welcome their first round of theatre goers after the structure install over a short number of weeks.

Benefits

The large marquee represents a long-term investment for the historic festival theatre, which now has a show-stopping semi-permanent structure on site to host many performances, festivals and events throughout inclement weather.

The surrounding manicured garden and lawns were able to flourish throughout the build. Disruption to the historic castle venue was kept to a minimum, and opening night was a resounding success under the new open-air theatre.
