Modular temporary building for railway maintenance
Requirements
The client, a leading provider of transport solutions in the United Kingdom, had already acquired a new demonstration facility in Ironbridge as a marketing suite for the railway for the presentation of a new rail vehicle, Revolution Very Light Rail (RVLR). After HTS TENTIQ had already worked with the client on this project, we were once again asked to design and construct a building suitable for train maintenance.
The company was seeking a flexible building solution that could be dismantled if required and relocated to alternative sites once all work at this location had been completed.
Solution
After detailed client consultation, the HTS team erected an insulated temporary building as a train maintenance workshop with the following specifications:
- 10.00 m width
- 25.00 m length
- 6.20 m eaves height
- Roof covering made of thermal roof membranes providing insulation and counteracting condensation
- Gable cladding made of single-skin PVC sheeting
- 40 mm insulated sandwich panels on the side walls
- 2 personnel doors as side entrances
- 2 manual, non-insulated gates at the front and rear in the gable ends
- 12 x 200-watt LED building lights
By purchasing directly from the manufacturer, the client was served within a short timeframe. The initial enquiry through to project completion took less than 5 months. The installation itself was also completed significantly faster than with a conventional building.
Benefits
The modular temporary building workshop represents the perfect solution for a refurbishment site, as the building can be used for as long as required and can then be relocated to a new site if needed.
