Transform six riding arenas into a dream equestrian facility with HTS TENTIQ
In the world of equestrian sports, the needs of riders and horses are both diverse and demanding. A crucial component for success is the quality of riding arenas, which must ensure both rider comfort and horse welfare. In this case study, we take a closer look at an exciting project in equestrian arena construction delivered by HTS TENTIQ.
Requirements
A well-known equestrian centre in Batavia, Illinois, wanted to modernise its entire riding and office facilities as well as the adjacent stables. The company required a total of six buildings: three stable buildings, an office area, and two riding arenas. Initially, only the construction of a temporary structure by HTS TENTIQ was planned, while the remaining five buildings were to be permanent structures built by other construction companies.
The client had already seen HTS TENTIQ structures in Canada and therefore contacted us regarding the one building that was initially planned as a temporary structure. Once we had gained a full overview of the project and discussed it with the technical development team at the main production site in Germany, the client was quickly convinced that HTS TENTIQ could deliver both the temporary structure and the five permanent buildings as customised solutions.
Solution
Finally, the following buildings were designed, manufactured and assembled:
- An LX Xanten riding arena with a width of 40.00 m, a length of 60.00 m and a side height of 5.20 m, featuring a thermally insulated double-skin PVC roof and 80 mm insulated sandwich wall panels.
- A double-storey Röder HTS GZ500 large-scale marquee used as an office building, with a width of 5.00 m, a length of 15.00 m and a wall height of 4.00 m, featuring insulated 60/100 mm sandwich roof panels and 80 mm insulated sandwich wall panels.
- Three LX Xanten stable buildings with a width of 12.00 m, a length of 27.00 m and a wall height of 3.00 m, featuring 60/100 mm insulated sandwich roof panels and 80 mm insulated sandwich wall panels.
- A dodecagonal riding arena of LX Xanten construction with 80 mm insulation thickness.
The duration from enquiry to completion and handover of this extensive project was 10 months.
Benefits
HTS was able to draw on its extensive experience in design and manufacturing to develop customised structures engineered for site-specific snow and wind loads, ensuring robustness, safety and durability.
The client received a brand-new, tailor-made permanent equestrian centre designed to meet its specific needs, which was ready for use significantly faster and at a lower cost than would have been possible with conventional buildings. The use of HTS TENTIQ structures also made it possible to relocate buildings to another site if required – a feature that did not compromise functionality or safety in any way, while also helping to obtain planning permission.
As equestrian sports are extremely popular in the United States and the facility already enjoys an excellent reputation, future expansion is likely. The high quality of the structures and the smooth delivery of materials particularly impressed our client. The success of this project has made HTS TENTIQ the client’s first and only point of contact for further equestrian arena construction projects.
